Potatoes for the dead

Your clan has disowned you, and rightly so, as you ate ALL their precious potatoes. Now, a pariah, you must regain the trust of the community by scavenging the graveyard for the starchiest of orbs; the potato!

The game was made in a week using Godot for the VimJam 2020. This is my first game.

Everyting is made by me, except the lightning sound effect made by Grant Evans.

Fun story but I could not really feel it, it is usually hard to force me to eat just one potato xD

The controls feel good, I have to agree that the jump is really odd but to me this is not a bad thing, it was fun to bounce around like this.

The music was not good in my opinion :( The loop is really short and the melody simply does not serve the game well in my opinion.

The graphics of the game were pretty neat though.

I really liked the story and concept, very creative. The controls felt good, and liked the defeat enemy types. The lightening was also a cool touch. Great Game!

While the music is a bit earpiercing and the jump is too fast, the concept of searching for potatoes to then use them to attack the undead was pretty fun, and the art is appealing, even though the pariah is half the size of the clan member that speaks to you and the lightning moves with the player. All in all, not a bad game, it just could use some polishing :D

I wholeheartedly agree with you! Hopefully I'll get to fixing it.

i tried and i liked the graphycs, the implementation and everything only 2 things i think that the jump it with a little to high gravity and i would love to see some animation for the dead of enemys apart from that i love the game

Hello the concept of the game is good, as rewarding the players in a more direct way by directly using the collectible as ammo is interesting, however there were some problems I found. The jump is way too fast in every sense, there's no or very few acceleration as deceleration as you will instantly start going up at max speed, and down at max speed. The hit boxes are too unreliable, and the hit animation is not clear enough. The projectiles should be outlined or more visible as sometimes it felt as if you weren't being hit at all. The collisions were a bit unreliable but that's understandable. And the music is a bit too loud. Otherwise  good concept and enjoyable, only by fixing the jump the game would be a lot greater.

Thanks, great feedback!

hey do you want me to test your game and you test mine?

Sure!
